The Daffaa Android App: Install It and Grant SMS Permission, Step by Step
01 Nov 2026 · 3 min read · 22 views
To let Daffaa confirm your customers' transfers automatically, you first need a collection phone: the Android phone holding your wallet SIM or receiving your bank SMS. The Daffaa Android app on that phone reads each incoming transfer SMS and forwards it to Daffaa for matching. The most common mistakes are tapping "Deny" on the SMS permission and never checking that the device shows online.
Before you start
- A Daffaa account and a store (sign up and see the first-store guide).
- An Android phone with the SIM that receives your wallet or bank SMS. Any regular SIM works.
- Internet on the phone, and the dashboard open on another screen to scan a QR code.
Install the Daffaa Android app
- In the dashboard open Devices and choose to link a new device. The "How to link" steps include the app download link.
- Download and install the app on the collection phone. If an older version is installed, uninstall it first.
Grant the permissions
Allow SMS (receive and read), notifications and phone state. If you denied one by mistake, open Setup steps in the app and tap Permissions, or go to Settings → Apps → Daffaa → Permissions. On some newer Android versions a sideloaded app's SMS permission shows as restricted; allow restricted settings from the app info menu first. To learn what happens to the message next, read how Daffaa reads payment SMS.
Link by QR
Tap Scan QR code in the app and point it at the dashboard code. The app confirms the connection and the dashboard shows the device as linked. Next, add a line for each SIM (see adding a wallet number); without a line, no SMS is processed for any store. You can also sign in with email or phone and password instead.
Confirm the device is online
On the Devices page, check the status is Online, the last heartbeat is recent, every permission shows Granted, and "No Battery Restrictions" is granted. For brand-specific battery steps, see turning off battery optimization.
Enable device alerts
Turn on Device Alerts in your store settings and set the phone number to notify. Daffaa warns you if the phone goes offline, the battery is low, a permission is missing, or power-saving mode is on. See Telegram and WhatsApp alerts.
Common fixes: re-enable a denied SMS permission from Setup steps, add a line if no transfers appear, never swipe the app away, and check the status after a reboot.
Finally, send a small test transfer (say EGP 10) and watch it appear in Transactions, or use the reception test. Ready? Create your Daffaa account.
